For most thought leaders, guiding others through complex situations comes naturally. It’s intuitive work shaped by years of experience.
But translating that intuition into something others can reliably use is difficult. Without a methodology, your expertise remains personal and hard to transfer. With one, your work becomes something others can carry into new contexts and build on.
What great methodologies do
One of the most valuable things you can do is make your own thinking visible so others can apply it as well.
Create shared language
When everyone uses different words, it's hard to build momentum together. A methodology creates common ground: your expertise codified into a "grammar" makes complex ideas discussable and decisions easier to align around.
Support sensemaking
Humans struggle with abstract concepts like problem-solving, decision-making, or anticipating the future. A methodology helps offload complexity into the world, making it easier to organize information, spot patterns, and prioritize what matters.
Invite multiple perspectives
No single person sees the whole system. A methodology provides a structure that allows different stakeholders to contribute their perspectives without defaulting to hierarchy or consensus.

Section was founded by Scott Galloway in 2020 to deliver MBA-quality business education online. The company partners with leading academics and operators to help professionals develop practical business skills through cohort-based learning experiences.
The challenge
Section wanted to help learners apply expert judgment to real business challenges, not simply consume expert insights. The challenge was turning expert knowledge into practical frameworks that could be taught online and used by learners to make better decisions in real-world situations.
What I worked on
I collaborated with leading academics and practitioners to turn expert thinking into clear and practical frameworks. Contributors included professors from NYU Stern, UC Berkeley Haas, and Kellogg, alongside experienced operators from companies such as Netflix and Allbirds.
